HENNIKER, N.H –
The first month of the New Year was one to forget for the Manhattanville women's hockey team, but the Valiants started February by picking up a point at New England College in a 1-1 (OT) tie inside the Lee Clement Arena on Friday night.

Leading the way for the Valiants was sophomore Katie Little (Victoria, British Columbia/Team British Columbia) with three assists. Freshman Haleigh Hutchinson (Allen Park, Mich./Honeybaked (TOEHL)) finished with a pair of goals and sophomore Mary Rose Morrison (Ridgefield, Conn./Connecticut Stars (MFYHL)) had the game's first tally for the visitors.

Manhattanville took a 1-0 lead after the first period as Morrison put in a rebound off a Little shot on the power play for her 11th goal on the season at the 7:40 mark. The Valiants led in shots, 10-3, after the period.

Both squads scored in the second period, as Little found Hutchinson for her first of the night to take a 2-0 lead midway into the period. New England cut the deficit with a goal from Kristin Dehm at 15:42, with Kassandra Flint credited with the assist.  The Valiants continued to lead in shots after two periods, 20-14.

The hosts tallied twice in the final period to tie the score and send the game into overtime, beginning when Kate Kellar tied the game at two 24 seconds into the final frame. Hutchinson netted her second of the game to give the Valiants back the lead at 6:41, but Chelsea Torrico tied the contest just over a minute later, and neither team could score for the remainder of regulation or overtime.

Teraysa White made 42 saves for the Pilgrims and sophomore Emy Cote (Saint-Hubert, Quebec/Dawson College) made 26 saves for the Valiants to pick up the point.

Manhattanville (12-6-2, 9-3-1 ECAC East) will take on Castleton State in the final game of its five-game road trip tomorrow starting at 3 p.m.
