ANNVILLE, Pa. – After a successful winter season on the fields of play, eight Manhattanville student-athletes were honored for their excellence in the classroom by earning spots on the Middle Atlantic Conferences Winter Academic Honor Roll, announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

To be eligible for the honor roll, student-athletes must be of at least sophomore standing and have participated in a varsity level sport during the winter season. Players need to register a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) and complete the playing season in good academic standing.

All four Manhattanville winter sports sponsored by the MAC were represented on the honor roll. The women's indoor track team paced the Valiant sports with three honorees, including the top GPA in the entire conference in senior Sarah Gustavsson (Gothenburg, Sweden/Hulebacksgymnasiet). The men's indoor track team and the men's basketball programs both had two honorees, while the women's basketball team followed with one.

Seniors Brian Bertucci (Gibbsboro, N.J./Solebury Prep), Kelli Hyjek (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) and Mike Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) all earned spots on the Winter Academic Honor Roll for the third time in their careers, the maximum possible for a four-year student-athlete.
